Family Questionnaire

Hello & thank you for choosing me to document such an important part of your life: your family! In order to better prepare for your session, please read the information and fill out the questionnaire below!

WHAT TO WEAR – You do want to coordinate your outfits but don’t get too matchy! Find a color pallet that you love and choose outfits that complement each other without looking too matchy-matchy. We want everyone to look unique and portray their individual style. Opt for neutrals with a few pops of color or a softer palette that has different ranges in tones of the same shades. Stay away from “blue jeans and a white t-shirt” for everyone or outfits that don’t allow personality. I encourage mamas + girls to wear flowing maxi dresses/skirts as this helps to create movement in your images as well as more emotion. Choose solid colors or timeless prints that compliment your skin tone. I also recommend wearing your hair down for added impact in your images. For men + boys, I recommend v-necks and chambray shirts/casual button-ups in solid colors: cream/beige, chambray blue, rust, black, soft grays, etc. with fitted pants or shorts. (Rompers are cute as well for little ones!) Remember that only one person should wear a print as otherwise outfits may clash. The service I provide, Style and Select, is excellent at helping to choose and coordinate outfits!

TAKE YOUR TIME – The session will start with some posed portraits but will then become more relaxed to give you a chance to have fun as I take candid photographs. My desire is to capture you and the ones you love genuinely enjoying each other’s company. I love to take the time to connect with families and the best images come when we are not in a hurry!

LET THE KIDS BE KIDS – I want our session to be a time the whole family will enjoy! We won’t be telling the kids to sit still and smile, we will let them explore and run wild! When working with kids, it’s almost a guarantee that things won’t go as planned and I want to assure you that that is absolutely OK. If they aren’t feeling the family shots, we will let them tire from play and then capture more tender family moments later on.

FUN FOR THE KIDDOS – Bring along something fun for the kids to do while I am photographing others. They can bring their favorite toy or a ball to play with. During this time, I will also turn my camera to them to capture what they do best – playing and having fun!

BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES – Plan to get dirty/wet especially if shooting at the beach! We may get in the water or play in the sand towards the end of your session if your location allows it! It may be helpful to have a change of clothes for both you and your kids when you get back to the car.

DON’T GO HUNGRY – Bring snacks along for the little ones incase their little bellies get hungry! Just make sure the snacks aren’t too messy. Full kiddos are happy kiddos!

HELP THE KIDS KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT – Talk to your kids about how exciting the session will be. Tell them that they can bring their favorite toy to play with and how they will get to play outside for an evening with the whole family!
